Stuck in a rut of content creation? Here’s how to be more productive by using what you already have and repurpose content! Reach more people by doing less!

8 helpful ways to repurpose your own content to use again and again! via My Unicorn Did It

If you’re stuck in a rut of content creation, sometimes the best things you can do are already in front of you.

Your own previous content!

But you can’t just write about the same stuff and expect people to act like it’s new and fresh. And Google is smarter than that anyway.

Let’s repurpose that high quality content into more types of content!

What does repurposing content mean?

It’s simple, really.

Repurposing content means taking existing content that you already have and using it in a different way so that it’s actually new content for your audience.

Why should you want to repurpose content?

This can make your life a whole lot easier.

If you’re struggling trying to come up with content ideas, going back through what you already have can spark some new ideas by looking at it with fresh eyes. Think of it as a little marketing strategy.

The best ways to repurpose content

1. Break down one of your posts into a full tutorial/how to/review

I’m actually planning on doing this myself, so this one I’m pretty familiar with.

For example, take my post where I talked about my favorite business tools that I actually pay for.

I could take each of these and write an entirely separate blog post about them. Their uses, their pros and cons, and what it’s like using them after a certain period of time.

Since I have about 8 products in that post, technically that is 8 new pieces of content I could write (and plan to write) and trickle out over the next coming months.

2. Turn your posts into an eBook

You can either give this away for free to your email list or you could sell this, but hopefully you have a niche site which means you’re writing about a lot of the same topics over and over from different views.

Home decor blogger who specializes in thrifting furniture? Throw together an eBook with all you’ve learned over the years thrifting furniture.

Fitness blogger who’s lost 150 pounds doing something that anyone can do? Write an eBook with your best tips and recipes.

This is a great content marketing idea for an email list or could be a great way to create a second revenue stream for yourself.

3. Make your blog into video content

Video is growing in leaps and bounds and more often than not, people would rather watch a video on how to do something than read a blog post.

Ha. Funny because on this site you’ll see no videos and you’re reading this in a blog post.

Do as I say, not as I do or whatever.

Regardless, creating a short video from a blog post can bring an entirely different audience that may be able to see your content in a new way.

4. Create an online course

This will take a lot of content for several reasons.

One, you want to make sure that you have the page views from Google (aka. people reading your stuff) to make sure that you can stand on your own as an expert in your field.

Two, it’s going to create a lot of existing content to try to turn it into a course. While you don’t have to only use content that you already have necessarily, having existing content to repurpose might be a huge help to you and save you a lot of time with the course.

5. Create an email series

I’ve actually done this! I’ve currently got an email series that helps people just like you to create content that people love and that will keep them coming back and you know what it’s comprised of?

My most popular posts on this site that I realized people were reading and loving so I figured I would make it easy to drive more traffic right back to those pages.

You can do a case study on this yourself by diving in to your own Google Analytics.

What pages are people visiting most often?

Taking those pages, if they have something in common, can you somehow think of a way to repurpose your content to make a solid email series that you can use to nurture your new subscribers?

6. Use your content on another site as a guest post

I’ve actually done this one too. You can do this a couple of ways.

One way is to almost do a round up of your own content

7. Make your blog content into a podcast

If you have a blog that’s not some type of DIY or tutorial or something that is informative, but people don’t need to necessarily see step by step photos, try turning it into a podcast!

Although there are tens of thousands of podcasts out there, the market is not nearly as saturated as it is in the blogging world. It seems every person and their mama and their mama’s mama has a blog.

Try something new and go the podcast route! It’s a totally different market and if you already have content that’s doing well online, why not try to tap into people who may never come across your blog otherwise?

Alternatively, if you have a podcast or other types of video content, transcribe your audio. This is not only a good way to help those who may be able to read something and not be able to listen to it, but it also may be helpful for those who are hearing impaired.

8. Round up your most popular content

One of the most effective ways to repurpose your content is to do a roundup of some of your most popular posts. There are tons of ways to do this and do this well!

For those in the home decor niche: If you post a lot about budget friendly DIY projects, try doing a post about 8 DIY projects you can do in a weekend.

For those in a parenting niche: “The 15 best kept secrets you need to know about your child’s first year.” You could gather all your posts you’ve done about either things you’ll need or some helpful tricks about what mom’s need to know in the first year of motherhood.

For those in the food blogging niche: Best comfort food dishes or healthy snack ideas for the busy family would be a great way to round up some of your most popular recipes.

Repurposing your own content is extremely helpful! It may take you a while of consistent posting to gather ideas, but if you’re really good at keeping your own content organized, in no time, you’ll be able to repurpose your already great content into something else that will also be great!
